Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said his team had dropped two points by drawing 0-0 at home to Walsall.
The Bees had numerous chances, particularly in the first half, but were unable to score and had to settle for a draw.
The Brentford Manager, speaking to Bees Player after the match, said he was happy with his team in the first half but said his players did not keep a high enough tempo after the break.
He said he was pleased with the defensive performance against a team that had won eight of their previous 11 games and had already beaten promotion chasing AFC Bournemouth and Doncaster Rovers away from home as well as winning at Milton Keynes Dons.
But overall, the Brentford boss was disappointed not to win, particularly as he started with three strikers – Marcello Trotta, Bradley Wright-Phillips and Clayton Donaldson.
Uwe said his team had to score more goals if they wanted to challenge at the top of the table.
“In the first half we had nine good chances,” said Uwe.
“Marcello Trotta had four or five; he did very well around the box.
“We allowed them nothing; the first half was very good defensively against a team that has beaten Bournemouth, Doncaster and MK Dons away.
“I was very happy.
“In the second half the tempo slowed down and we didn’t get any momentum until Harry Forrester came on.
“Harry lifted us with his energy and we had opportunities in the second half.
“We were very high up and I compliment my defenders because it is hard to keep a clean sheet when you play like that, pushing for the three points.
“Overall it is two points dropped.
“It was disappointing for me.
“We did a lot of things right but we have to score.
“Our destiny between now and the end of the season will, in general, be decided by how many goals we score.
“Today we had an offensive team – three strikers, two up front and one in midfield.
“We couldn’t make it count.
“That was disappointing.
“In general I was happy with our defensive play but overall we are disappointed we didn’t make our chances count and get three points.
“Walsall came here to slow the game down and we didn’t do anything about it.
“It was another game where we should have got more than one point.”
New signing Bradley Wright-Phillips, who joined on loan from Charlton Athletic on Tuesday, played 67 minutes on his debut.
Uwe said his partnership with Marcello Trotta worked well but he had not played 90 minutes for a while.
“Bradley looked busy and sharp, his first touch was very good,” said Uwe.
“He has not played 90 minutes for a long time.
“I was happy with him, he worked hard.
“The partnership between him and Marcello worked well in the first half.
“I wanted to bring Harry Forrester on and the reason I took Bradley off is that he has not played 90 minutes for a long time.
“We had eight or nine good chances in the first half, we should have scored.
“On another day Marcello would have scored two or three himself.”
Brentford remain seventh in npower League One and are five points behind leaders Sheffield United, they also have at least one game in hand on every team above them.
The Bees travel to Sussex to play Crawley Town on Tuesday and Uwe said he expected a battle.
“Crawley will be difficult,” he said.
“It will be a physical game.
“We have to be prepared for a fight.
“We have the quality to restrict them and cope with their approach.
“We have the capability to create chances and we can win there.”
