Toumani Diagouraga said he was delighted to be called upon to help Brentford in their push for promotion.
The midfield player had been on loan at Portsmouth and played eight games for the Sky Bet League Two side.
He was recalled earlier this week and appeared as a substitute for The Bees in the League One draw away to Oldham Athletic yesterday.
Toumani said Brentford Manager Mark Warburton had told him to go away, play and get match fit and that he would called him back, which he had done.
The midfield player has been at Brentford for more than four years, initially on loan and then permanently, and wanted to be part of what was happening with The Bees second in League One with just five weeks of the season remaining.
“I was delighted to be called back,” said Toumani, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“I have been here so many years and I want to be here and see Brentford be successful.
“It was very good at Portsmouth,
“I played games and came back match fit.
“The manager told me to go out and get match fit.
“That is what happened.
“I played eight games and he called me back.
“He is right.”
Toumani said it was exciting to be in the promotion race.
He said having come close last year – when Brentford finished third in League One and lost the Play-Off Final – he wanted to be part of a squad that went better this season.
“I am here to do my best, as I have always done for Brentford,” he said.
“Whenever the manager wants me to go on the pitch and help them team I will go and do my best.
“We want to play well but points are all important.
“It is exciting; we came very close last year and have a chance this year.”
Toumani said Brentford went to Oldham looking for a win but would settle for a point.
He played the last 15 minutes of the match and said it was a tight encounter, with a draw probably the right result.
“We came here to get three points,” said Toumani.
“We have one.
“We wanted to win the match but we have to take it and move on.
“We have another game on Tuesday.
“I thought it was a tight game.
“They sat back and tried to hit us on the counter.
“They had a couple of chances; we had a couple of chances.
“It was probably a fair result.
“We tried, we went for it but they sat back and made it difficult for us to break them down.”
Oldham played with five men in midfield and were content to soak up pressure and hit on the counter attack.
Toumani said Brentford’s form had forced teams to do that.
“It is credit to the way the team has been performing this season that we get games like this,” he said.
“Teams want to sit back and get a chance on the counter.
“You don’t get as many chances.
“They defend all game.
“You have to try and put them away.”
Brentford’s next match is away to Sheffield United on Tuesday.
Toumani said that game might be different.
“I think they might come at us,” he said.
“It will be a better game if they do.
“We will go there and try to win.”
