Tony Craig said he was really pleased to sign a new Brentford contract and it was “great news” the Club wanted him to be part of its future.
The defender signed a new deal on Tuesday which will keep him at Griffin Park until the summer of 2017.
Tony has been at Brentford since the summer of 2012 and said he was happy on and off the pitch.
The centre half, speaking to Bees Player, said he always wanted to stay at Brentford.
“I am really pleased to get it all sorted,” said Tony.
“We have been discussing it for a little while.
“I am pleased it is all done and I have signed on the dotted line.
“It was a pleasure to be offered the deal.
“The Club is going in the right direction and it is great news that they want me to be part of it.
“I am pleased it is all sorted.
“There were a few things to sort, I have a family to support, but I always wanted to sign.
“I am very happy on and off the pitch and my family are happy as well, I can’t ask for much more.
“Every player wants their future to be sorted, thankfully it is done and I can concentrate on the pitch.”
Tony played 55 games in his first season at Griffin Park and captained Brentford in the 2013 npower League One Play-Off Final.
He made his 100th Brentford appearance towards the end of the 2013/14 season, a year in which he helped The Bees to promotion to the Sky Bet Championship, captaining the side for the majority of the campaign.
Tony made his 100th league appearance for Brentford in the win at Nottingham Forest last week, the second of three straight wins that has taken The Bees in to the top six in the Championship.
In total he has played 117 games for The Bees in all competitions, 101 of them in the league.
Tony said he hoped Brentford’s start to the season, which has left them just four points off the top after 17 games, would continue.
“It has been a good start to the season so far, we are all thoroughly enjoying it,” he said.
“We are still learning the league.
“It is a great league to be involved in.
“We have new players that have come in; we are becoming a tighter unit day by day.
“It is a great league; there are great teams, great stadiums and great atmospheres.
“It is a league you want to be involved in.
“Every game is a great game and it has been so far so good, hopefully it can continue.”
The win at Forest came after a victory over Derby County and was followed by a 3-2 win at Millwall on Saturday.
Tony said it was a great week for the Club and the players were showing what they were capable of.
The Millwall win was Tony’s first game at The Den since leaving to join The Bees and he admitted it was a weird day but said the win was all he cared about.
“It has been a great week for the Club, to get three wins against three big teams is fantastic,” he said.
“But we know what we are capable of and we are showing it at the moment.
“We work day-in day-out to perfect things on the pitch and it is coming in to place at the right time.
“The game at Millwall was a good one for me.
“It was a weird day with some of my family in Millwall and some in Brentford.
“It was a big day but three points was the most important thing.
“Games just keep coming; the rest is coming at a good time for us to recharge the batteries.
“We played on the Wednesday and to give a performance like that on Saturday is a good thing.
“It shows how good we are.”
Brentford are not playing this weekend due to international fixtures and then face Fulham next Friday, November 21.
There are no midweek games, apart from at Christmas, until early February and Tony said that would help The Bees.
“The break gives time for a few of the boys to relax, take their mind off football and spend time with their families,” he said.
“We play pretty much Saturday-Saturday now rather than with Tuesdays.
“That means we can regroup and recover better.
“We will keep working on the training field and hopefully results can continue.”
