Tony Craig described Brentford’s friendly against Celtic on Saturday as “a great pre-season game”.
The Bees were beaten 2-1 by the Scottish Premier League Champions at Griffin Park in front of more than 8,000.
Adam Forshaw put Brentford in front but Celtic hit back, scored two goals on the break and took the win.
The game came after a win over Championship side Millwall and before a visit from Premier League Cardiff City and Tony said it was a good set of pre-season friendlies.
He said he was pleased to play a full match and in a “great atmosphere”.
“We have some good games this pre-season,” said Tony, speaking to The Bees Player Show after the match.
“Pre-season is hard work and you want to get 90 minutes under your belt.
“I thought we gave a good account of ourselves today.
“We passed the ball well and we now move on towards the start of the season.
“There aren’t many teams that would travel and take three stands at any game.
“This was a great pre-season game, you normally only get a couple of thousand.
“There were over 8,000 today; it was a great atmosphere and a great game to be involved in.
“I was pleased to get 90 minutes under my belt.”
Tony came close to scoring with a volley that was well saved by Celtic goalkeeper Łucasz Załuska with The Bees already one up.
The stopper made a series of fine saves throughout the match to ensure Brentford were beaten.
The one time he did concede was when Adam Forshaw exchanged passes with Paul Hayes and lifted the ball in from 12 yards.
“It was an unbelievable save from my volley,” said Tony, with a chuckle.
“He has made some great saves today.
“Adam Forshaw is capable of long range shooting.
“Thankfully one went in today and hopefully there will be pretty more this season.”
Tony said he would take each game as it comes this season and was not looking too far ahead.
The Bees came close to going up last year – finishing third in League One and losing the Play-Off Final – but Tony said it was important to move on.
He said the squad for 2013/14 was capable of achieving something but it was important not to look too far ahead.
“First and foremost last season has gone,” said Tony.
“We have to forget about it.
“We had a great season but it didn’t happen.
“We have a chance this season but we have to take it game by game and go from there.
“We have a squad capable of achieving something and hopefully it will be a good season for us.”
