“Everton have lost 1-0, 2-1 and drawn 1-1, so it could be a very tight game tomorrow. If we can keep a clean sheet it will be important because I don’t think there will be many goals in the game.”
Thomas Frank is expecting a close-fought encounter at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday.
The boss was speaking with the media during his pre-match press conference at Jersey Road.
“I’ve watched the three games Everton have played in the league,” said Thomas.
“I think they played a good and even game against Chelsea. It was a penalty that decided that game and it could have gone either way.
“Against Villa, they showed again how difficult they are to play against - they gave very little away. I think they were unlucky not to come away with a 2-2 after the [Lucas] Digne own goal.
“They deserved more against Nottingham Forest, but when you go a goal down in the 81st minute and then come back it’s a good point.
“They are very solid and difficult to break down, and they have a lot of pace up front.”
The Bees return to the Gtech Community Stadium for the first time since the 4-0 victory over Manchester United. It was a fantastic atmosphere a fortnight ago and Thomas stressed that the supporters will again have a huge part to play.
“When you ask me now, it feels ages ago,” said Thomas when asked about that remarkable meeting with the Red Devils. “It’s been two games since and we’re always looking forward.
