Simon Moore said Brentford’s players were really upbeat ahead of their npower League One Play-Off Semi-Final against Swindon Town.
The Bees were within the width of a crossbar of promotion to The Championship last weekend but missed out.
They needed to beat Doncaster Rovers but Marcello Trotta fired a stoppage time penalty against the crossbar and the visitors were down the other end to score and clinch promotion.
Simon said it was an opportunity missed but the players have moved on and now face three more games to win promotion.
He said end-of-season Big Red Ball, where fans and players mixed last Sunday, was a great help to the squad.
“At the time I was very disappointed and it was an opportunity missed,” said Simon, discussing the Doncaster game on Bees Player.
“But it has gone now.
“We can’t look back; we have to look forward to this weekend against Swindon.
“We have already beaten them twice and we will be full of confidence.
“The mood has been fantastic this week.
“The mood has been really upbeat.
“At The Big Red Ball on Sunday, the fans were in fantastic spirits.
“We are ready.
“Sunday was the best thing possible.
“I thought it might be flat but it was great for the boys to get together and we were all in really good spirits.”
Brentford travel to Wiltshire for the First Leg of the Semi-Final tie tomorrow, Saturday May 4, and then play the return at Griffin Park on Monday, May 6.
The Bees beat Swindon home and away during the regular season but Simon said it would count for nothing.
Simon said Brentford had to treat the tie as two normal games and he believed their strength in depth would get them through.
“We have to put the disappointment behind us and treat it like any other game,” said the goalkeeper.
“There is a risk we can overthink it.
“We have to approach it full of confidence and believe we will get the rewards if we play well.
“I think two games close together is a good thing.
“It is better to be playing.
“We have a fantastic strength in depth and that will get us through.
“Every game is different.
“The two results from earlier in the season go out the window.
“We have to do our job and if we do we will make the final.
“I just want to get started now.”
At The Big Red Ball on Sunday Simon was named as a joint winner, along with Harlee Dean, of the Players’ ‘Player of the Year’ award.
He said he was very proud to receive the accolade from his peers in the dressing room.
The PFA awards were also handed out on Sunday and Simon said he was surprised no players from Brentford were named in the League One Team of the Year.
“I was made up with the award and very proud,” he said.
“It could have gone to any one of the lads.
“We have a fantastic squad and that is why we are in the position we are.
“We finished third in the league and I was surprised none of our players were in the PFA team.
“We have a fantastic team spirit; I don’t think there is another team in the country who have what we have.
“The spirit will get us through the next few weeks.”
