Harry Forrester said the Brentford squad were “buzzing” after booking their place in the npower League One Play-Off Final on a dramatic afternoon at Griffin Park.
The Bees went in to Monday’s Semi-Final Second Leg against Swindon Town level at 1-1 but dominated the match.
They were 2-0 up just before half time and 3-1 up just after but Swindon fought back and scored a 95th minute equaliser to take the game to extra time.
An additional 30 minutes couldn’t separate the sides and the tie went to penalties.
Brentford scored all five and Simon Moore’s save from Miles Storey was enough to send The Bees to Wembley.
They will face Yeovil Town in the Play-Off Final on May 19.
“The boys are buzzing,” said Harry, speaking to The Bees Player Show after the match on Monday.
“We could have done it in 90 minutes but we don’t do it easy.
“It is probably the best way to win and the worst way to lose.
“We are going to Wembley.”
Harry said Brentford were delighted with the way they played, particularly in the first half.
“The Manager [Uwe Rösler] just told me to go out and enjoy myself,” said Harry.
“We did that today and we did ourselves proud.
“We were delighted with the way we played in the first half and we knew they would come back at us in the second half.
“We got across the line.
“We didn’t think it was over at 3-1, we knew we had to keep going.”
Harry admitted Brentford’s players were gutted when Swindon equalised but praised the way the team responded.
He said The Bees would now go to Wembley and try to finish their season in the right way.
“We were all gutted when they equalised,” he said.
“We have overcome so many hurdles this year and scored so many late goals we were starting to wonder if it really was going to be our year.
“We never give in and we have one game to go.
“We fancy ourselves.
“We will plan right and go there to win.
“We need the rest now; it’s a long old season.
“There is no better place to finish the season than at Wembley.
“We will go there to try and finish the job.”
