Work is underway to prepare the pitch at Griffin Park for the 2013/14 season.
The Club is in the middle of a renovation of the playing surface in preparation for the new season, which is a little under two months away.
The work has included removing the grass from the pitch and adding 160 tonnes of sand, which has been worked in to the soil to a depth of 150mm.
A process of laser levelling the playing surface has taken place this week and the soil will be seeded in the next few days.
Grass should start to appear on the pitch within a week and Brentford FC Head Groundsman Nick Baldwin said he hoped to cut the new surface for the first time by the middle of the month.
Nick said: “All the work we do in the summer is to try and keep the pitch in the best condition possible for the season.
“We are, however, always at risk to the elements and playing lots of games in a short space of time in poor conditions.
“Taking the top off the pitch will get rid of all the rubbish.
“We end up with lots of grass that gets blown in and takes root, this will clear that out.
“The team that came in to do the laser levelling have done an excellent job.
“We had a few puddles on the pitch at times last season and this will help eradicate that.
“The sand will improve drainage.”
There have also been renovations at Brentford’s Training Ground, in Jersey Road, Osterley, this summer.
It will be done in three phases with work on the two main pitches ready for when the First Team players return for pre-season training at the end of the month.
Nick added: “We have scarified the pitches to remove the debris and worked sand in to the surface.
“This will help root development and drainage.
“A new irrigation system – with timer-controlled pop-up sprinklers like we have at Griffin Park – has been installed on the two main training pitches.
“This will be a great help to the ground staff as watering the pitches will be a less time consuming exercise and everyone can get on with other work.
“We are pleased with how it has gone.”
