Stuart Dallas said he couldn’t remember much about his third goal of the season which gave Brentford their first league win of the season.
The Northern-Irishman seized on an error by Donervon Daniels to rob the defender and then smash home high past Joe Lewis to score the game’s third and decisive goal.
Speaking to Bees Player from Bloomfield Road after the game Stuart said there was only one thing in his mind once he got in behind the Blackpool defence.
“I can’t really remember much about the goal,” said Stuart.
“I think it was a long ball and you just have to chase them down.
“I knew he was going to try and shield it out and I knew if I could get round the back of him and beat him I was in on goal.
“Thankfully I managed to get round the back and there was only one thing on my mind when I got into that position.
“Whenever you get in there you have to take your chances and it was my first chance on the night.
“I am just thankful that I got into that position and there was only one thing on my mind when I got in there.
“I have to take each game as it comes.
“I felt I did ok in the first game against Charlton and I just have to keep working hard and keep my head down.
“I have to be ready whenever the gaffer calls upon me.”
Roared on by 472 vocal travelling fans The Bees rallied from falling behind to an early Nathan Delfuoneso goal to level things at half-time as Alex Pritchard scored his first league goal for Brentford.
Stuart completed the comeback when he got the better of Donervon Daniels and smashed home seven minutes into the second-half.
The Seasiders pressed hard for a leveller in the closing stages but Brentford held firm to secure the three points.
Stuart felt that Brentord deserved their three points and showed great character to come from behind away from home.
The 23-year-old reserved special praise for the support given to the team by the fans, most of whom would not have got home until the small hours of Wednesday morning.
“We knew coming here it was going to be tough,” said Stuart.
“We didn’t look too much into the off-field stuff.
“I thought they did very well tonight and I don’t think they will have any problems whatsoever.
“We had to be on our best performance tonight.
“I think the first 15 minutes we started a bit slowly but once we got into our normal routine and got the ball down and passed it we ran out worthy winners.
“Going behind was one of those things in football and you just have to put it behind you and get back into it.
“We have shown great character not only tonight but also against Charlton to come from behind.
“On Saturday at Bournemouth when we went behind we battered them for the last 30 minutes.
“You have to keep going and keep plugging away.
“The boys showed great character tonight to come from behind.
“It is unbelievable to have support like that behind you.
“It is so encouraging for the players that so many of them made a round trip up here on a Tuesday night.
“It is enormous for us because in this league we are going to need everyone.
“We are looking forward to Saturday now.”
Brentford manager Mark Warburton named an attacking team for the trip to Blackpool with Stuart, Alan Judge, Alex Pritchard and Moses Odubajo all lining up behind striker Nick Proschwitz.
With the central of those four, Alan and Alex, capable of playing on the flanks Stuart and Moses would often find themselves coming inside to cover as Alan and Alex moved out wide.
Stuart said Mark Warburton has impressed on The Bees squad that they need to know more than one role in the team so that this position rotation can work well.
The winger added that he feels if The Bees continue to go out and attack their Championship opponents they will be just fine in the league this season.
“You just have to know your role on the pitch and that is a good thing,” said Stuart.
“In our team when Alan Judge and Alex Pritchard play in the centre then if Alan comes out I can come in.
“It is not just me it is all the other players.
“The gaffer has drilled that into us about knowing your roles.
“You have to know more than one role in the team.
“It is very important and I think it works well in our team.
“We came here playing the formation that we usually play and I think that the best form of defence is to attack.
“You can see that in our performances as we are always looking to try and go forward and score goals.
“Over the season if we keep attacking we will do alright.”
