Stuart Dallas felt any one of Brentford’s four goals against Fulham last month could have been named Goal of the Year at Sunday’s Awards Dinner.
The Bees secured a 4-1 success over their local rivals on Good Friday thanks to Stuart’s brace, an Alan Judge free-kick and a sublime Jota volley.
The Northern-Irish winger, who has scored eight goals this season, admitted the standard of goals from Brentford in that game and over the season in general has been very high.
Stuart said there was something very special about scoring such a goal against The Bees’ local rivals in front of 6,000 travelling fans.
Speaking to Bees Player after winning the award Stuart said: “It is definitely up there with the best goals I have ever scored.
“To score any goal is a good feeling but to score against your neighbours and your nearest rivals is that bit special.
“I got two on the day but the second one was that bit better as we were shooting towards the end with the Brentford fans.
“The goal in the 90th minute at home to Derby County sent us on a run but the most important thing was to get the three points on both occasions.
“That set us up for the run-in and thankfully yesterday we were able to get the job done.
“For people to recognise the goal that you score is a great feeling.
“I am over the moon that people have voted for it.
“Any goal in that game against Fulham could have won it with Jota’s goal and Alan Judge’s free-kick.
“It was a crazy game when you have four such great finishes.
“We don’t score enough tap ins.
“Every goal we score is a good goal.
“If you have seen us this season you can see that we play good football and that every goal we score is a good goal.
“Next Friday if we score a tap in then I don’t think anybody will care.
“We look forward to Friday now and the season is not finished.”
Stuart was speaking after Brentford secured a Sky Bet Championship Play-Off place in their first season back in the second tier after a 22 year absence.
That place was secured with a 3-0 win over Wigan Athletic coupled with defeats for Ipswich Town and Derby County on a dramatic final day in the Championship.
Stuart started Saturday’s match on the bench and said it was important that The Bees got the job done as they knew results elsewhere were right for them.
“It was a good feeling,” said Stuart.
“Some of the lads on the bench were keeping their eyes on the scores and we knew that things were going our way.
“We knew that we had to get the job done as it was no good everything going our way if we didn’t win ourselves.
“We delivered another top class performance on the day and we scored three good goals.
“When we got the third goal you could see that the crowd were starting to cheer.
“As players we had to keep our mind on the game and concentrate on ourselves.
“We got the three points and the rest took care of itself.”
The Bees reward for making the Play-Offs is a Semi-Final against Middlesbrough who finished a place and seven points higher in the table.
Boro did the double over Brentford during the regular season but Stuart feels The Bees were very unlucky not to get anything from the home game at Griffin Park.
“We can only take one game at a time and that starts from Friday,” said Stuart.
“We come in tomorrow and we will prepare as we have done for every game throughout the season.
“We will prepare for Middlesbrough and we will go out to win the game.
“We go out to win the game against any team we go out to play.
“Middlesbrough will be no different.
“They have beaten us twice this season but we were unlucky in the second game not to get something out of it.
“We will go into the game on Friday with a positive mind-set and we will look to win the game.”
