Hundreds of guests listened to former Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Northern Ireland goalkeeper Pat Jennings at the latest Brentford Football Club Sporting Dinner last week.
Pat was joined by compère Barry Williams and comedian Aaron James at the BA Club, in Cranford, last Thursday, March 27.
He talked about a career that started at Newry Town before he was spotted by Watford.
After just one season at Vicarage Road he was signed by Tottenham and in 13 years at White Hart Lane Pat made 591 appearances in all competitions and scored in the 1967 Charity Shield.
His career also saw him play for Arsenal for eight years – where he became the first man to play 1,000 senior appearances in English football – and pick up 119 international caps, still a Northern Ireland Record and were a World Record at the time of his retirement.
Pat won two FA Cups, two League Cups and a UEFA Cup; he was named Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year in 1973 and PFA Footballer of the Year in 1976 and played in two World Cups for Northern Ireland.
The evening, which saw almost 250 in attendance, also saw Bees fans meet former Brentford stars Dean Holdsworth, Terry Evans, Andy McCulloch, Jackie Graham, Alan Hawley and Bobby Ross.
There was also a chance to take part in the Sporting Dinner auction and lucky bidders won lunch with Brentford FC Manager Mark Warburton and a chance to be in the 2014/15 Team Picture.
