After the 1-0 loss to Dulwich Women’s Reserves on Sunday morning, Sophie Troth felt she and her teammates could have done more to get something from the game.
After a tentative start from both sides, Dulwich took the lead on 34 minutes after their right winger calmly placed the ball into the bottom corner.
Brentford struggled to create any real goal scoring opportunities throughout the game, missing out on their chance to go above Dulwich in the LSE Regional WFL Division One North table.
“It didn’t really look like we were going to score any time soon, it was quite a defensive game and both teams didn’t want to go all out to get a goal and I think in the end that’s what cost us,” explained Troth.
“I don’t really think they had many chances either, obviously Lilly had to make a few good saves, but they didn’t have that many shots on goal so for them to take one of their only chances, it was disappointing.”
As the Bees now look to their next fixture against Abingdon United in the second qualifying round of Vitality Women’s FA Cup, Troth is aiming for a better result.
“We’ve played Abingdon before, so we know what to expect, they have a big pitch so I’m hoping we’ll be able to use the space and implement our passing patterns.
“It’s important that we are able to create more chances and when we do we need to be more clinical in front of goal, hopefully allowing us to get the win.”
