On the pitch The Bees troubles away from home continued as Danny Ward’s strike saw Rotherham United took the points at The New York Stadium. A week later and the goals, points, and red cards were shared at Griffin Park between The Bees and Sheffield Wednesday. An injury-time goal from Sam Hutchinson rescued a point for The Owls after Lasse Vibe’s opener. David Jones saw red before Vibe joined him, leaving Hutchinson to net deep into stoppage time to level.

Rico Henry became The Bees most expensive ever teenager, joining from Walsall on a five-year deal. He was followed through the door at Griffin Park moments later by Sullay Kaikai, who arrived on a season-long loan from Crystal Palace. Emmanuel Ledesma left to join Greek side Panetolikos after his registration was cancelled while Ryan Woods agreed a new deal through to 2020 having joining from Shrewsbury Town 12 months earlier.
