George Saville said it was a measure of the standards Brentford had set that he was a little disappointed to only beat Bristol City 3-1 last night.
The Bees made it 17 Sky Bet League One matches unbeaten with the win.
It was their 15th in that time and kept them at the top of League One.
Brentford went ahead early on when Aden Flint put through his own net but City soon equalised.
The visitors pressed forward but Alan Judge put Brentford back in front and Marcello Trotta made it three.
George said Brentford dug in well when City were on top and once they started playing the game was one-sided.
“We did well,” said the midfield man, on loan from Chelsea.
“We dug in well.
“There has been a hard schedule, playing at the weekend and then midweek.
“We scored three goals and we are disappointed we only won 3-1.
“That is compliment to us; we want to do better than just OK.
“We had a really good half hour in the first half where we cut them open and could have had four or five.
“Overall we are happy with the three points.
“It took us a bit of time to get in to the game.
“Maybe we were a bit lethargic, a bit tired.
“When we got going it was one-sided.”
George said Brentford knew the game would open up and had to show patience.
The Bees started to dominate the midfield as the game wore on, George, Alan McCormack and Jonathan Douglas pressed them in to mistakes and won the ball in City territory.
“We had to show patience,” said George.
“The game will always open up.
“We are very fit as a team.
“The more it opens up, the more we get on the ball and play and kill off teams.
“If we play our game and do what we do best, there aren’t many teams that can compete with us.
“In the midfield we have a great set of lads; we have ball-winners and lads that can play.
“When we win the ball back and put teams under pressure, they don’t like it.”
The Brentford ground staff worked hard to get the game on.
The pitch was very wet and cut up but was largely true.
George said Brentford’s players trusted each other to receive the ball in difficult areas and just got on with it whatever the conditions.
He said when legs get heavy, due to conditions, The Bees had the squad strength to make changes and cope.
“The pitch wasn’t the best but you have to get on with it,” said George.
“The weather has been terrible and it is not a great time of the year.
“You have to trust yourself and the players have to trust each other.
“You have to get on with it.
“We have a good squad to deal with it when the legs get heavy.”
Brentford’s next game is away to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday.
George said he was living his time at Brentford, playing regularly and playing well, and was looking forward to the match.
He said the players knew there was the ability in the squad to score goals, even when suffering setbacks like City’s equaliser, and they wanted to keep their run going.
“We take it game by game,” said George.
“There is a buzz and we are confident but we are taking it a game at a time.
“Bristol City was tonight, we got three points and now we look to Shrewsbury.
“We know we are good enough to score at any stage.
“We know we can score two or three.
“We are looking forward to Shrewsbury.
“We are on a great run and want to keep going.”
