Midfielder Ryan Woods gave his post-match reaction to the defeat against Hull City, claiming the side should have taken their chances in the first half.
“It’s disappointing to end our run that we’ve been on,” said Ryan. “We need to take the positives from it. We need to recover well and look forward to Blackburn on Saturday and try to get back on winning ways.”
Brentford matched Hull for an hour, but the 21-year-old said that converting the chances afforded to them may have seen a different outcome.
“We can match anybody on our day,” said Ryan. “We needed to take our chances first half and that would have been a completely different game. I think they sat back a lot and countered us with the individuals that they’ve got. The pace they’ve got in the team it does cause a few teams a problem.”
Ryan walked away with the sponsor’s man of the match, and has settled in well after his deadline day signing from League One Shrewsbury Town.
“I was quite happy with the way I played,” said Ryan. “Obviously it’s a different position for me but I think I’m relishing in the role a little bit. I like to come inside a lot and do what I normally do in there but I’m enjoying it and I’m playing games, and that’s the main thing for me.
