Deadline day signing Ryan Woods gave his reaction to signing for Brentford after spending six years with Shrewsbury Town. He joins the club on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.
“I was pleased to hear that a club like Brentford wanted me,” said Ryan. “I had a good season last year and have carried that on that form and it’s caught the eye and I’m over the moon.”
Transfer talks between the two clubs went right to the final day of the summer transfer window and the 21-year-old was pleased to put pen-to-paper.
“It’s a nervous time for you because you want things to get done sooner rather than later,” said Ryan. “So you can concentrate on playing football. It’s been a long winded process but I’m pleased to finally have it all done and can’t wait to get going.”
Ryan was looking forward to the new challenge at Griffin Park after his long spell with the Shropshire club.
“I would always give 100 per cent for Shrewsbury,” said Ryan. “And I think I did that on Saturday. It was a massive decision for me because I love the club. Things move on and it’s like any job really, you do well and get promotions. This is one of mine now and I’m ready for this step and I’m looking forward to it.”
The midfielder told Bees PlayerHD that he was the type of player that was creative and look to seek openings for his new team mates on the pitch.
“I’m somebody that likes to get on the ball an awful lot,” said Ryan. “I love to create chances for my team mates and that’s what people should expect from me.”
