New signing Leandro Rodriguez has arrived in West London with plenty of confidence that he can help his new teammates pick up results. The 23-year-old Uruguayan signed on a short-term loan deal from Everton earlier this morning and is looking forward to making an impression on the Griffin Park faithful.
"I am very happy to be here," Leandro told the Club's official website, after putting pen to paper on his loan deal. "Without doubt, it is a good club to be at to play football and hopefully get some good results. Of course, it is a good place to create an impression for the future. I want to play well and help the team, but also improve myself as a footballer and get better individually.
"I am a striker, and I can play up front by myself or with other players. Since the very early stages in my career, I have played in many different positions, it depends on where they need me."
Leandro Joaquin Rodriguez Telechea, to give him his full name, arrived in England from River Plate Montevideo in August 2015. Adapting to a new language and culture can take time, but he feels like he has settled well and is ready to contribute to the team.
"It's nice, I have adapted to a lot of the changes quite quickly. The weather being a big difference, but also the culture and the people.
"I think in the game itself, there are a few differences between the styles in different leagues. In England the pitches seem to make the ball a lot quicker, meaning you have to be better in possession, but I feel I can handle it."
At the start of the season, Brentford also brought in fellow Spaniard Sergi Canos from the red side of Stanley Park. Leandro doesn't feel like the age-old squabbles between their parent clubs will affect them.
"It certainly helps to have another Spanish speaker in the team, just to help settle you in or explain something to you in Spanish if you don't quite understand. A new club has new ways of doing things so it helps to be able to communicate everything properly.
"Of course, it won't be a problem that he is a Liverpool player. We are both playing for the same team now and trying to help the squad do as best as they can."
