Lee Carsley's Development Squad made it three straight league wins after a comprehensive 4-1 victory over local rivals Queens Park Rangers at Harlington this afternoon.
The Bees dominated the match from the off but had to wait until the half-hour mark to take the lead as Jermaine Udumaga was bundled over in the box and he picked himself up to score the resulting spot-kick.
Betinho doubled Brentford's advantage just after the interval and Udumaga's second, a superb long-range effort, wrapped up the points ten minutes into the second half.
QPR got themselves on the score-sheet through Ben Marlow late on only for Bradley Clayton to score a fourth Brentford goal in injury to add gloss to a fine performance.
Alan McCormack continued his recovery from injury as he started at right-back with former Hoop Josh Laurent in the midfield alongside Marcos Tebar.
Betinho was utilised as the lone striker ahead of the trio of Charlie Adams, Jermaine Udumaga and Josh Clarke.
Brentford had won the reverse fixture at Jersey Road 2-1 back in December and from the outset another Bees win looked a strong possibility.
Lee Carsley's side could have been out of sight in the opening quarter hour as Betinho chipped over when one-on-one, Udumaga shot weakly at Joe Lumley from 12 yards and Lumley made a good save to keep out Betinho's curling effort.
Tebar then glanced the post with an angled header from an Adams corner and, when the ball was worked back out to him, Adams whipped a fierce left-footed shot narrowly over the bar from the angle of the box.
Richard Lee had been a mere spectator for most of the opening quarter but he was alert when called upon to make a smart save from Nathan Corkery after Adams has been dispossessed in the midfield.
The stopper then produced a fine double save to first keep out Gianni Critchlow's sweetly-struck drive before turning away an effort from new QPR signing Ryan Manning as the hosts looked like getting back into the game.
The hosts high line coupled with the intelligent passing of Brentford's front four nearly led to Clarke giving Brentford the lead but he poked his shot past the post after racing onto Adams' delicious through ball.
Jake Nicholson and Manning both missed the target from distance for the hosts before Lee Carsley's side did take the lead and once again it owed much to an attacking run from midfield.
Udumaga broke past the hosts defence and got into the box where, as he was about to pull the trigger, Coll Donaldson bundled him over leaving the referee in no doubt as to give a penalty.
The defender was perhaps lucky not to see further punishment as he was the last man but Udumaga served punishment of his own by lashing the penalty past the dive of Lumley and into the top corner.
The game rather settled down after that with the central defensive pairing of Raphael Calvet and Daniel O'Shaughnessy dealing with everything Steve Gallen's side were throwing at them.
Adams could have added a second late on in the half when he curled over after good work by Betinho but The Bees didn't have to wait long into the second-half to double their lead.
An expansive counter-attacking move allowed Aaron Greene to bomb forward from left-back and his whipped cross was touched home by Betinho from the middle of the goal.
The result was put beyond any doubt ten minutes after the break as Clarke battled well by the byline and managed to pull the ball back to Udumaga on the edge of the box and he lashed home an unstoppable effort past Lumley's despairing dive.
Trailing 3-0 Rangers threw caution to the wind and piled forward trying to find a way back into the game.
Although their frantic pressing and pressure didn't make them much more of a threat going forward it did disrupt Brentford's passing game and forced The Bees to play in areas that they did not want to play in.
The Bees for their part were content, when they could, to try and pick a way through the QPR pressure with Laurent and Udumaga finding increasing space in the central areas.
The hosts introduced Sandro on the hour mark and 12 minutes later they gave themselves a glimmer of hope as Marlow got on the end of Corkery's inviting cross and powered a close range header home.
Lee made a regulation save from a looping Corkery effort as the hosts were unable to build on their goal.
As the minutes ticked down it was Brentford who looked more likely to get the next goal as McCormack's effort was bravely blocked by the head of Addison Garnett before they did add a fourth in injury time with a textbook counter-attack.
Laurent held off Sandro on the edge of The Bees box and carried the ball 70 yards before laying the ball off to Clayton who, although he saw his first effort well saved by Lumley, kept his cool to slide under the hosts goalkeeper and into the back of the net.
The win moved Brentford to within four points of their rivals ahead of Friday night's clash at Griffin Park against Swansea City.
