Brentford are set to narrowly miss out on their quest to reach the end of season Under-21 Professional Development League Two Play-Offs.
The Club’s Development Squad have been challenging at the top of the Under-21 Professional Development League Two South table for most of the season.
The Bees have 38 points from 19 games and have one left to play – away to Colchester United next Tuesday, April 30.
They cannot, however, now clinch a top two spot and win a place in the end of the season Play-Offs against the teams from the northern league to decide the Under-21 Professional League Two winners.
Cardiff City won nine of their last ten games to end on 42 points from their 20 games.
And Charlton Athletic beat Millwall yesterday, Monday April 22, to end their 20 games with 42 points and clinch top spot due to having a better goal difference than Cardiff.
If Brentford beat Colchester next Tuesday they will end with 41 points and guarantee third spot in the table, ahead of teams including Brighton and Hove Albion, Swansea City, Ipswich Town, Bristol City and Queens Park Rangers.
The Bees can also point to the notable statistic of having beaten every one of the other ten teams in the table.
But it will not be enough to earn a place in the end of season Play-Offs.
