Alex Pritchard said the Brentford squad were “buzzing” after the Sky Bet Championship win over Reading.
Alex scored the second goal and crossed for Jonathan Douglas to head the third in a 3-1 win at Griffin Park yesterday.
Jota scored the first goal and The Bees were 2-0 up at the break.
Reading made changes and pulled a goal back but Brentford sealed the win late on.
It means they go in to an international break tenth in the Championship table.
“Everyone is buzzing,” said Alex, speaking to Bees Player after the match.
“We were really good in the first half.
“We spoke at half time about maintaining the standard and staying high up the pitch.
“In the second half they got on top, they made changes that made a difference and were threatening.
“We conceded but defended well and sucked up the pressure.
“We also caught them on the counter.
“If teams come here and we get ahead we have to be prepared to take risks if they get back in to the game.
“We can’t sit on 1-0 or 2-1, we have to counter.
“With our quality we can score more goals.”
Brentford bounced back from defeat at Watford on Tuesday to get the win.
Alex said the work done at the Training Ground was on show.
“I thought there was an excellent togetherness today,” he said.
“The team is growing, we had a bad result on Tuesday, we shouldn’t have lost at Watford, but we trained well and we showed it today.”
Alex got his goal just past the half hour mark.
Douglas was the main instigator, robbing Aaron Kuhl of possession and then feeding Andre Gray, the Brentford striker turned away from Alex Pearce but slipped as he prepared to shoot, fortunately Alex was there to slot past Adam Federici and get his second Brentford goal.
It was his first in competitive action at Griffin Park and first since one at Blackpool around six weeks ago.
He also delivered the corner for Douglas to get the third goal.
“Andre produced a great assist,” Alex said with a smile.
“It just fell to me.
“I wanted to make sure I hit the target.
“I needed a goal and it was perfect to cap today off with a goal and assist.
“It is good to be at home and get the first goal, hopefully more to come.
“That was the first goal from a corner for us this season.
“[Brentford Assistant Manager] David Weir has said we need to start scoring from them.
“We need to create more and be more dangerous.
“In other games my crosses haven't been good enough, today they were and Dougie headed it in.”
All three of Brentford’s goals came from close range.
“We look at games every week and we have numbers in the box,” said Alex.
“It is a matter of time before balls drop.
“Thankfully they did today.
“Jota put one home and so did I.
“It is a good win to take in to the international break.”
During the break, which means The Bees do not play until October 18, Alex will be with England’s Under-21 side.
England play Croatia in a two-legged Play-Off tie over the next ten days.
The winners will qualify for the UEFA European Under-21 Championships in 2015.
“It is good for me to be in the squad,” said Alex.
“But they are must win games.
“We play home and away and Croatia are a good team.
“It is a good squad and we can win home and away.”
