The players, who were riding high after their ten-goal thriller against academy players from Crystal Palace the week before, started the match in control – pressing forward and not allowing the opposition to be comfortable on the ball. Their hard work and possession was rewarded with an early goal – much to the delight of Brentford FC CST.
As the game progressed, energy levels from Brentford started to decrease, and the opposition became more comfortable with the ball. The Australian team’s commitment paid off with a late goal – making the final result 1-1.
Kevin Lema, Head Coach of the Premier League Kicks project, said:“Overall, I am very satisfied with the match. This was a fantastic opportunity for local players to play against young people from a different country – it was a great experience for everyone involved.”
Brentford FC CST runs an array of community engagement initiatives across west London; the Premier League Kicks project engages with more than 800 young people and has supported nearly 100 young people with mentoring and volunteering opportunities over the past year.
