Brentford’s first pre-season friendly ahead of the new 2016/17 Sky Bet Championship season is now just a day away. Dean Smith’s Bees travel to Vanarama National League side Boreham Wood this Friday, 8 July, for their opening match ahead of the league campaign. The match will be played at Boreham Wood’s Meadow Park ground and will kick-off at 7.30pm.

Last season was Boreham Wood’s first in the National League, the top division of the non-league pyramid, and they ended the campaign in 19th place, two points above the relegation zone. It will be the fourth season in a row Brentford have played Boreham Wood in pre-season, last year’s encounter ending in a 3-0 win for The Bees. After Friday’s match in Hertfordshire Dean and the squad head for a week long training camp in Germany, which includes a friendly against VFL Bochum on Wednesday 13 July, before returning to England for friendlies against Wycombe Wanderers, 1.FC Kaiserslautern, Peterborough United, and Millwall ahead of the season opener on 6 August at Huddersfield Town.
