Brentford Football Club has taken the decision to scrap a £2 administration fee for buying tickets online while a website upgrade is completed.
The Club’s online ticketing website – here – sells tickets for upcoming Bees matches and has, until now, charged a £2 fee per online transaction.
This fee was the rough cost the Club incurs for processing online orders and includes fees charged by website administrators, credit card providers and for postage.
From tomorrow, Thursday September 13, this fee will not be applied to any order while the online ticket website is upgraded.
Tickets ordered by telephone will still incur charges if supporters pay by credit card or request to receive their items by post so the best way to buy Brentford tickets is online.
Mark Devlin, Brentford FC Chief Executive, said: “The Club’s online ticketing website is the easiest way for most supporters to buy tickets for matches.
“With the new pricing for 2012/13, we want supporters to buy in advance and we need to make that as easy as possible.
“The £2 fee per online transaction may have been a barrier and we will now be removing that.
“The Club is charged fees for the transactions and does pay for postage but we will not be passing those costs on to supporters for the time being.
“The online ticketing website is being upgraded at the moment and we will shortly have the mechanisms to apply individual charges for postage or use of a credit card.
“However, no decision has yet been made as to whether the Club could continue to absorb these costs in the future.
“If online sales prove to be popular and we see a rise in the number of tickets bought that way, we will give serious consideration to keeping the free service.”
