Tony Craig said Brentford’s 3-1 win over Peterborough United was a “great game to be involved in”.
The Bees picked up their 12th victory in 13 Sky Bet League One games with the win at London Road.
They have taken 37 points from the last 39 available and are now three points clear at the top of the table.
Tony, speaking to Bees Player: Match Day Live after the game, said Brentford did not want to take defensive risks on a heavy pitch with rain falling and a driving wind affecting things.
He said The Bees dealt with it well and also coped with Peterborough’s attacking threat.
Adam Forshaw put Brentford in front from the penalty spot and Sam Saunders restored the lead before half time after Peterborough equalised.
The hosts pressed in the second half, albeit Brentford had chances on the break, but Clayton Donaldson sealed it with a third goal in the dying seconds.
“It was a great game to be involved in,” said Tony.
“Both sides went for it and we are thankful to come away with the three points.
“We didn’t want to take any risks defensively.
“The wind was swirling but we dealt with it well.
“They were a bit on top in the second half but that’s great for a defender.
“We are a good unit, we stick together and the work rate is unbelievable.
“Long may that continue.”
The Bees have won five out of five since Mark Warburton took over as Brentford Manager last month.
Tony said not much had changed, and The Bees were going well before Uwe Rösler left as Brentford boss to take over at Wigan Athletic, but there were positive alterations.
He added new Assistant Manager David Weir, a former Scotland international central defender, was helping Brentford’s central defenders, Harlee Dean and himself.
“There wasn’t much to change but you can see from the results that it is really positive,” said Tony.
“We were on a run.
“They have come with a few new ideas and they are working at the moment.
“David Weir is helping us a lot, he is talking to me and Harlee in training.
“A person who has played until they are 40 with the career he has had, you have to listen to him.
“For a defender, it is good that he has come in.”
Brentford have 22 games remaining and Tony said they would take one at a time.
“We will give it a good go but it won’t be simple,” he said.
“We will take every game as it comes.
“At the moment we are thoroughly enjoying it and hopefully it can continue.”
