Striker Luke Norris said it was “about time” he got on the score sheet after scoring the winner for Brentford’s Development Squad against Cardiff City.
The forward scored Brentford’s second in a 2-1 win in an Under-21 Professional Development League Two South clash.
He had missed the start of the season with injury but said he was fit now and pleased to get his first goal of the 2012/13 season.
Leon Redwood scored Brentford’s first and Luke took advantage of a poor kick by Cardiff goalkeeper Lee Kendall and lifted the ball over the stopper and in.
Cardiff scored at the death but never looked likely to take anything from the game.
“It’s about time I got one,” said Luke, speaking to Bees Player after the final whistle.
“I missed the first few games of the season but it’s good to be back and I got a goal.
“I was really pleased with the result as well.
“I got a bit lucky with a poor kick but got a good touch and saw him coming out; I thought I had to lob him.
“Luckily it went in.
“I thought I’d stay higher in case he made a mistake.
“It did and I had to put the ball in the net.
“I thought it was a good performance, we pressed really well in the first half and they couldn’t play.
“We got the second goal and were unfortunate to concede at the end.
“A 2-1 win is good.”
