Harlee Dean said the Brentford squad were upbeat after their draw with Derby County yesterday and any negativity would be “crazy”.
The Bees conceded a stoppage time equaliser to draw 1-1 with Derby at the iPro Stadium.
Brentford dominated most of the match and held the lead thanks to an Alex Pritchard goal.
But a Jeff Hendrick shot fell to Darren Bent and he levelled with just seconds remaining.
Harlee said Brentford had a young team full of belief and they would be ready for their next match, away to Sheffield Wednesday on Tuesday, April 14.
He said under Brentford Manager Mark Warburton and his assistant David Weir they were playing with confidence and were getting results performing their way.
“We are upbeat, we have to be, we have a game on Tuesday,” said Harlee.
“We have come to Derby, a massive club, with a massive budget, Premier League players and played them off the park.
“They nicked a draw in the last minute.
“If there is any negativity it would be crazy.
“We have to believe in ourselves, there are doubters but who cares.
“We have had a couple of bad halves but have played this style from the beginning.
“We are a young team and we are learning.
“The gaffer has given us confidence and is making us better players.
“We play football and it is paying dividends.”
Harlee said Brentford were pleased with their performance albeit disappointed to concede so late.
The defender said The Bees had scored a lot of late goals and had to take it when one went in against them.
“We are disappointed, no-one likes to concede a last minute goal, but we are pleased with the performance,” said Harlee.
“We have come here and played them off the park.
“It is a bitter one to take, coming so late, but we have had enough of them.
“We have got a point and we’ll take it, look at it and move on to Tuesday.”
Derby used Bent as their main striker with Chris Martin in behind as the target man.
Harlee said Brentford made some defensive changes and he felt it worked a lot better as Derby had few chances.
He said he and central defensive partner James Tarkowski were constantly talking to each other to keep Derby in check.
“They started better than us but we dealt with it,” said Harlee.
“It felt like we overran them.
“Defensively we were a lot better, we talked about a few things and dealt with them well.
“It’s a shame they scored at the end.
“In the last few games it has felt like Tarky and I were a bit isolated.
“When teams counter us, it is difficult.
“We were narrower today, more of a unit and it worked.
“We knew Bent would play with Martin just off.
“Bent is a top-class player, he tries to avoid being marked, we had to make sure we were narrow, talking and always switched on.”
Harlee said no blame was attached anywhere for the goal.
He added that Hendrick was probably lucky to still be on the pitch to play his part after a shocking late and high tackle on Tommy Smith.
“It was the last few minutes and there is no blame for anyone,” said Harlee, talking about the goal.
“The geezer who shot shouldn’t have been on the pitch after smashing Tommy Smith in the corner.
“We are a unit and we conceded a goal, it happens.
“No blame is passed and we will make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Brentford are seventh in the Sky Bet Championship table with four games to go.
They are behind Ipswich Town, who occupy the final Play-Off spot, on goal difference and a point behind Derby, who are fifth.
Harlee said previous experience of pushing for promotion from League One over the past two years would help Brentford this time.
“Once you have been there and done it you have the experience under your belt,” said the defender.
“We take each game as it comes.
“It is not fazing anyone.
“We believe and if you believe it will happen.
“We won’t change anything and we will be where we want to be at the end of the season.”
