Nik Tzanev will be looking to help New Zealand in to the last eight of the FIFA Under-20 World Cup in the early hours of tomorrow.
The Brentford goalkeeper is in the New Zealand squad for the tournament and played in their 5-1 win over Myanmar on Friday, 5 June.
That ensured New Zealand finished third in Group A and will now face Portugal in their Second Round match.
The game will be played tomorrow, Thursday 11 June, at 8.30am.
Portugal won all three of their games in the group stage – beating Colombia, Senegal and Qatar, scoring ten goals in the process and conceding just one.
Nik made his first appearance of the tournament in the win over Myanmar, the first ever for New Zealand in an Under-20 World Cup.
It was his second international cap for the tournament hosts.
Nik was born in Wellington and moved to England in 2006.
He was first-choice goalkeeper for Brentford’s Youth Team in 2014/15, playing 19 games as The Bees reached the final of the Under-18 Professional Development League.
Nik also played two games for the Development Squad.
He was named Youth Team Player of the Year and has been offered a professional contract for 2015/16.
