Nik Tzanev was unable to prevent New Zealand exiting the FIFA Under-20 World Cup.
The Brentford goalkeeper played in the Second Round match for the hosts against Portugal today, Thursday 11 June.
New Zealand fell behind but, with Nik making a series of saves, levelled and had the game all square in the final moments.
But Portugal scored the winner three minutes from time to send New Zealand out.
Portugal will now play Brazil in the Quarter-Final on Sunday, 14 June.
Nik – Brentford’s Youth Team Player of the Year for 2014/15 – ends the tournament with three international caps to his name.
The 18-year-old was offered his first professional contract earlier this year.
