New Zealand will go in to the FIFA Under-20 World Cup on the back of a defeat after losing their final warm-up friendly.
Brentford goalkeeper Nik Tzanev has been named in the New Zealand squad for the tournament, which starts next weekend.
He has been given the number 12 shirt and was an unused substitute as New Zealand were beaten 4-2 by Austria today, Sunday May 24.
The 18-year-old has one international appearance to his credit, he made his debut for New Zealand in an Under-20 friendly against Uzbekistan last month.
Nik was born in Wellington and moved to England in 2006.
He has been first-choice goalkeeper for Brentford’s Youth Team this season, playing 19 games as The Bees reached the final of the Under-18 Professional Development League.
Nik has also played two games for the Development Squad this term.
He was named Youth Team Player of the Year and has been offered a professional contract for 2015/16.
New Zealand host the tournament and kick it off on Saturday, May 30, against Ukraine.
They have further group games against USA and Myanmar on June 2 and June 5.
