Nico Yennaris said he was delighted that Brentford had won promotion from Sky Bet League One and it was a great thing to be part of.
The right back joined The Bees from Arsenal in January.
He played eight games in the second half of the season as Brentford finished second in Sky Bet League One.
After the final match of the season, a 2-0 win over Stevenage, Brentford were presented with medals and a trophy to mark their promotion and Nico said it was nice to get the recognition in front of a packed crowd at Griffin Park.
“It is great to be part of,” said Nico.
“It has been a great four or five months for me since joining in January.
“I am delighted.
“The players have created what happened today with our performances.
“It is nice to get a packed house today and hopefully that is the sort of crowd we get for most of next season.”
Nico said he wanted to get back to the Premier League and was pleased to have taken the first step.
“It was always the plan when I came here, to win promotion,” he said.
“The manager made it clear to me, what his plans were, and his plans for me.
“Everyone wants to play Premier League football.
“If I can get closer with Brentford, it is great.”
Nico said he was pleased with his first four months at Griffin Park.
He has faced competition for the right back spot from Alan McCormack and admitted being in and out of the team meant he hadn’t yet got a rhythm.
But he said he would come back for pre-season after a short break and look to be up to speed.
“I am pleased with what I have done here so far,” said Nico.
“I have been in and out of the squad, understandably, with how the team has been doing.
“I have been pretty pleased with how I have got on.
“It is difficult to get a rhythm and match fitness when you are in and out of the team.
“Pre-season will be a good time for me to crack on with my fitness levels and get match fit and match sharp.
“It is nice to relax for a little bit, not too long, and then get ready for next season.”
