Moses Odubajo said pre-season friendlies were designed to get players ready to start the season “of fire” and he believed Brentford would do just that.
The Bees kicked off their friendly schedule with a 3-1 win at Boreham Wood last night.
Moses, who joined Brentford from Leyton Orient in the close season, played an hour and spoke to Bees Player after the match.
He said it was good to win and he felt sharp towards the end of his stint on the pitch.
“Playing 60 minutes was always the plan,” said Moses.
“It was good to dust the cobwebs off.
“I felt sharp towards the end and we got the win.
“It is good to pick up the winning habit.
“It has been good.
“Pre-season is about building up to go in to the start of the season on fire.
“I think we will do.”
Brentford went ahead when Moses won a penalty and Kevin O’Connor converted it.
Boreham Wood equalised but a Josh Hill own goal put The Bees back in front immediately afterwards.
Jake Bidwell sealed the win, finishing off a sweeping move, towards the end.
Moses said Brentford looked sharp at times and there were signs of what the team could do.
The Bees have just returned from a training camp in Florida and Moses said he felt integrated in the team and was enjoying the start of his time in TW8.
“At times we played some good stuff, the lads looked sharp in certain areas,” said the wide man.
“There were other areas we were a bit rusty but it is coming on.
“In games like this you try to get what you need from it.
“You still want to come away with a win, that puts a smile on everyone’s face.
“The training camp integrated the new players in the team.
“It was good to go away.
“The lads have been good to me, I feel welcomed and at home.
“Life is good here, everything is happening fast, we have games coming up and I am looking forward to it.
“I am ready to go.”
Moses played down any concerns over pressure on his shoulders after moving from Leyton Orient, who narrowly missed out on promotion from League One to Brentford last season.
“All the lads are under the same pressure,” he said.
“We are a new team in The Championship.
“It is good pressure.
“I just hope we rise to it.”
Moses played on the right of Brentford’s front three at Boreham Wood.
He said he could play anywhere across the front.
“I was brought here to run with the ball,” said Moses.
“I can draw fouls, like I did tonight, cross the ball, provide assists, score goals, that is what I was brought here to do.
“I think the manager sees me playing wide right of a front three, with licence to go in and swap.
“Everyone in the front is comfortable playing across the front line.”
