Brentford Assistant Manager David Weir has challenged Montell Moore to continue to work hard and continue to make progress in the game.
The 18-year-old Development Squad attacker signed a new three-year contract last week.
It came just months after he completed his two-year scholarship and signed a one-year Development Squad deal in the summer
Montell has been involved in Brentford’s First Team during training and pre-season friendlies and made his debut in the Capital One Cup win over Dagenham and Redbridge last Tuesday.
Montell scored one and made three more in the 6-6 draw.
David, speaking to www.brentfordfc.co.uk, said Montell had fit in to the First Team group.
He said he had to ensure he worked as hard as the First Team players and if he continues to do so, his talent will show.
“Montell is a real talent, he stood out for me straight away,” said David.
“He is at a good enough level that we have had him train with us this season and at the end of last season.
“He has looked the part and fit in really well
“He has helped us in training sessions and proved he is talented enough.
“We needed him to work hard enough; he had to make sure he was working as hard as the other lads.
“If he continues working hard, he will continue doing well.”
Montell has been with Brentford since the age of seven and lives in the town.
David said: “Montell made his debut on Tuesday, created things and scored a goal.
“He is right at the start of his career, he is young and he is still learning.
“There are things he can do better but he has made a good start.
“It is great he is a local boy playing for his local team.
“It is great the supporters can identify with the players.”
David has followed Charlie Adams and Josh Clarke in to the First Team squad from the Academy.
Brentford FC Owner Matthew Benham has invested in youth development, including the building of a new indoor facility at Uxbridge High School.
“The development of young players will be very important for the future of the Club,” said David.
“Matthew has invested in the Academy, the new building at Uxbridge, the staffing and the infrastructure.
“That is the future for us.
“Montell, Charlie Adams and Josh Clarke are the first to come through.
“Hopefully the progress of Montell will encourage others.”
