Brentford Manager Uwe Rösler said Captain Kevin O’Connor has undergone a scan on an ankle injury.
The skipper was injured during Brentford’s 1-0 win over Portsmouth on Tuesday, one of three injuries picked up over the past few days.
It came almost exactly a year after he picked up an injury that ruled him out for the rest of the 2011/12 season.
Uwe updated Bees Player on the injury situation on Thursday.
“Kevin will see a specialist today [Thursday],” said the Brentford Manager.
“Once that has been assessed there will be more news.
“One year and three days ago Kevin got an injury.
“Now he has a similar problem that will keep him out for a while.
“He is mentally strong, he will bounce back and we will look after players who have given so much for the Club over the years.
“Tom Adeyemi has a grade two hamstring problem; he will be out for two to three weeks.
“Leon Legge may be a little bit less.”
Brentford picked up their first away win of the npower League One season at Fratton Park with Clayton Donaldson scoring the only goal.
That came three days after an FA Cup with Budweiser First Round win over Boreham Wood.
“In terms of results it was a very good week for us,” said Uwe.
“But in terms of injuries, it was not.
“We have had a fantastic injury record, three months without an injury, apart from the long-term one suffered by Farid El Alagui, an incident we could not avoid.
“We have lost a lot of players in one week.
“We have been making phone calls to get players in but there is nothing concrete.
“We will see what we can do.”
Jake Reeves joined AFC Wimbledon on a Youth Loan on Monday and Uwe said he wished he had not sanctioned the move.
Brentford have seven more League One games before Christmas and five of those are against teams currently above them.
Uwe said his squad needed reinforcing to cope with that run.
“I regret letting Jake Reeves go, we cannot have him back for 28 days,” explained Uwe.
“We have games against the top teams coming up and I think we will play better against better teams.
“We will raise our performance levels.
“But there is no way we can come through all those games with the current squad, we have to add.”
Farid El Alagui is a long term absentee; the striker is recovering from a serious knee injury picked up at the start of October.
Uwe said the forward was “mentally strong” and said the Club would look after him during his lay-off.
“Farid is brilliant,” said Uwe.
“He has come in every day with a smile on his face and that is not normal for a player in his situation.
“He is mentally very strong, he is very focussed on his rehabilitation.
“The football world goes very fast and daily life continues but we must look after Farid.
“He is alone, he has no family here.
“There is a big responsibility for us as a club, and on me.”
Uwe said Brentford were never in danger of losing to Portsmouth on Tuesday and added The Bees finally got what they deserved on the road.
“The players believed in the way we played away from home,” he said.
“The confidence was always there and we weren’t getting the results we deserved.
“Tuesday was a big step forward in how we manage games, keeping opponents away from our goal.
“Portsmouth didn’t create any chances.
“The players dug in, managed the game and didn’t allow them to come close to our box.
“We probably didn’t have our best game but it was a very solid performance and we were never really in danger.”
Brentford entertain Carlisle United at Griffin Park on Saturday and Uwe said members of the Club’s Development Squad will be involved in the First Team.
Emmanuel Oyeleke, known as Manny, who made two appearances last year, is set to be part of the squad and Uwe said others will be named too.
“We only have 14 First Team players available so it is natural there will be Development Squad players involved,” he said.
“They will be on the bench
“Manny has been with us a long time, we know what we will get with him.
“There may be one or two new faces; we will see how they do.”
The Bees will be looking to build on a Griffin Park record that has seen them unbeaten since August and they will seek to improve on a 2-2 draw with Hartlepool United in their last home game.
Uwe said if Brentford approached the game in the right frame of mind, they had enough quality to win.
He said the additional support coming from those who had taken advantage of reduced prices and free tickets offered by the Club would help his players.
“We learned lessons against Hartlepool,” said Uwe.
“We have to treat every game as a cup final.
“If we have the right mind-set, mentally preparing as we should, we will win games.
“We have a very strong team, a good bench and there are no excuses for not giving our best shot to win the games.
“We are closing down on the top teams.
“This will be a difficult game, they have a strong midfield and will play on the counter attack, we will have a lot of the ball.
“It is important that we use the ball well and are organised when attacking.
“The crowd can give us an extra three or four per cent to win the game.”
