Maxime Colin said he has come to Brentford to win games of football and fulfil his, and the clubs aim, of Premier League football.
The 23-year-old defender joined The Bees on a four-year deal from Belgian side RSC Anderlecht earlier today.
Speaking to Bees Player after signing Maxime said he was excited to join Brentford and saw it as somewhere he could develop and grow alongside the club.
“I am really happy and excited to start with Brentford,” said Maxime. “I want to say thank you to everyone who made my signing here possible. I am really excited to start and to show what I can do with this team.
“Brentford is a club that wants to grow and has a lot of ambition. There are a lot of smart people here who want to grow the club. I am excited to play at Griffin Park in front of fans who will push the team. I was at Anderlecht, which is a really big club in Belgium, but now I have come here to grow.”
Maxime began his career with French Ligue 2 side US Boulogne before moving to Ligue 1 side ES Troyes AC in 2012.
After two years with Troyes he signed for Belgian Jupiler League side RSC Anderlecht where he made 27 appearance last season.
The defender said that playing in England and playing in the Premier League is an ambition that he has always had and one he wants to achieve with Brentford.
“I am still young and I have a lot of ambition,” said Maxime. “I want to play a lot of games and win a lot of games here. The Championship is very physical and it is box to box and I will do my best for Brentford. I want to grow and Brentford is a club that wants to grow too. Brentford will bring me a lot and I have signed here for four years so I want to take the time to grow up.
“Brussels is a good city but London is another thing. I don’t know London perfectly but I want to discover the city and the country. It is a dream of mine to play in the Premier League for sure. The Championship is a step towards playing in the Premier League and I want to have a good season for the team and also for the fans.”
