The Opponents
The Grecians got their Sky Bet League Two campaign off to a disappointing start on Saturday with a 2-0 defeat at Blackpool, former Brentford youngster Kyle Vassell opening the scoring before an Andy Taylor own-goal wrapped up the points for The Tangerines. Paul Tisdale opted to add experience to his young squad in the summer with the arrivals of Troy Archibald-Henville [Carlisle United], Robbie Simpson [Cambridge United], and Lloyd James [Leyton Orient]. Those departing St James Park during this transfer window have included Clinton Morrison [Redditch], Alex Nicholls [Barnet], and Christian Ribeiro [Oxford United]. Former Bee Emmanuel Oyeleke also left last month but there will be a couple of familiar faces for Bees fans tonight with Simpson, and Craig Woodman both expected to be involved. Exeter will be without injured defensive duo of Archibald-Henville and Troy Brown tonight while winger Joel Grant is also a doubt
The Gaffer
Paul Tisdale is the longest serving manager in the EFL after notching up ten years service at Exeter in June. An England Youth International, Tisdale's playing career took him from Southampton to Bristol City to Exeter City via spells in Scotland, Finland and Greece. After injury cut short his playing career he took over as the manager at Team Bath, leading them to four promotions and a place in the FA Cup First Round Proper in 2002/03, in the process becoming the first university side to make the FA Cup proper since in 1881. In his first campaign with Exeter he led them to the Conference Play-Off Final before earning promotion a year later again via the end of season shootout. Promotion to the third tier came at the first attempt in 2008/09 as Tisdale continued to earn plaudits for his style and play while working within Exeter's wage structure. After three seasons in League One, including an eighth place finish in 2010/11, Tisdale has consistently evolved his sides to challenge at the top end of League Two since then.
