Simon Moore described Brentford’s victory against Swindon Town as a “massive win”.
The Bees extended their unbeaten run to seven with a 1-0 win in Wiltshire last night.
Swindon started the evening third in npower League One but Clayton Donaldson scored the only goal of the game to give his side the win.
Simon, speaking to Bees Player after the match, said the Brentford players were “fantastic” on the night.
“This was a massive win,” he said.
“We knew it would be a tough game, Swindon are in good form.
“The boys were absolutely fantastic.
“It was a massive challenge.
“There is always one team that comes up from League Two and does well, this year it is Swindon.
“They have been on a magnificent run and had a good start to the season.
“It shows how far we have come.
“This is a huge result.”
Simon kept his fifth clean sheet of the season against Swindon and had to work for it.
He made a couple of good first half saves and was given a battering by the home side just before the break when a series of robust challenges were allowed to go unpunished.
Simon said he expected to get a couple of free kicks and said he was delighted to keep the home side out.
“I was really pleased with a couple of saves and I dealt with a lot of crosses,” he said.
“It was difficult out there tonight.
“The referee didn’t give me any protection, but that’s football.
“I was clattered a couple of times but, thankfully, we got away with it.
“I’m delighted to get another clean sheet.
“There was a fantastic block from Harlee as well.”
Simon praised his defence for their work.
“If you get a solid foundation and keep clean sheets it is great,” he continued.
“The more clean sheets we keep the higher we will go up the table.
“That’s credit to the boys in front of me.
“The back four was superb, it’s a fantastic team.
“There were lots of balls coming in to the box and we dealt with them.
“We are on a great run and we want to carry on.
“Things are going well, we are very confident and I am sure it will continue.”
Brentford’s win made it four points from two away games against top-ten opposition after they drew 1-1 with Preston North End on Saturday.
The Bees take on Sheffield United at Griffin Park this coming Saturday and Simon said there was a possibility to set up an exciting December and January.
“We have had a good week so far,” he said.
“Preston was a very tough game and they had more chances than we did but we got a late goal to give us momentum coming in to tonight.
“If we had lost it may have affected us.
“We got a fantastic point there, a fantastic three points tonight and it sets us up really well for Saturday.
“If we get a result against Sheffield United, we have the FA Cup the week after and it sets up a really good Christmas period.”
