Brentford Manager Mark Warburton said his team know the task that faces them if they are to reach the Sky Bet Championship Play-Off Final.
The Bees were beaten 2-1 in the Semi-Final First Leg by Middlesbrough at Griffin Park last night.
They conceded a stoppage time winner, a deflected shot from Fernando Amorebieta, having dominated for long stages.
Andre Gray levelled for Brentford in the second half after Jelle Vossen had put the visitors ahead with a header just before the half hour.
Mark, speaking after the match, said the tie was only half way through and his team had to win the second leg at the Riverside Stadium next Friday, May 15.
He said Brentford had already won away games at some difficult places – including Cardiff City, Norwich City, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest – and could do it again.
“We are 2-1 down at half time, it’s as simple as that,” said Mark.
“We did enough second half and created enough chances to show what we can do.
“Now the task is very clear, we have to go there next week and win.
“We have gone to some tough venues this season and performed very well and scored goals.
“We know what we do, we have to win and that is our intention.”
Mark said Middlesbrough stifled his team in the first half and he told his players to move the ball quicker in the second half.
Gray could have levelled before he scored and the visitors had to resort to regular fouls to stop The Bees.
“It was a difficult game and a highly charged atmosphere,” said Mark.
“There was a lot to play for.
“I thought a few things went their way, there were a few niggly fouls and they had four yellow cards by half time.
“They stifled us in the first half, we had to move the ball quicker in the second half, we did that and the game was more open, too open at times.
“We created a lot of chances.”
Brentford levelled when Gray charged down a kick from Middlesbrough goalkeeper Dimitrios Konstantopoulos, as the ball dropped he rolled it home.
The visiting goalkeeper redeemed himself with a superb save from a Jonathan Douglas header.
Mark said he felt his team were on top at that point.
But The Bees could not get themselves ahead and conceded at the death.
“Andre will never give up and it was a difficult finish for the goal,” said Mark.
“He took it early and scored the goal.
“Their keeper then made a very good save from Dougie.
“We were on top at that point.
“We were moving the ball nicely, we had rhythm and I was pleased.”
Mark said he would be relying on the unity in the dressing room to get his team through.
“The character of this group has been without question,” said the Brentford boss.
“They have shown time and time again what they are made of.
“We have won at tough venues, scored late goals and got out of difficult situations.
“There is unity in the dressing room and we have to rely on that next week.”
With Mark leaving Brentford at the end of the season, it was his last match at Griffin Park.
He hailed the Brentford fans.
“The supporters have been outstanding again tonight, from start to finish,” he said.
“I didn’t want to leave Griffin Park like this in terms of a result but it was great to have an atmosphere like that.
“This is a magnificent Football Club.
“It has been a pleasure to manage them.”
Mark called on the supporters to travel in numbers next week.
He said the players would need the fans to do all they could to help them across the line.
“We are looking forward to next week,” said Mark.
“Everyone seems to think we are out of this now.
“That is when we are at our most dangerous.
“There are 90 minutes, we have to win.
“We are a goal down in a cup tie.
“We need the fans next week.
“It will be a great occasion and we have to go there and maximise it.”
