Brentford Manager Mark Warburton has emphasised his belief that the current squad are good enough to win promotion from the Sky Bet Championship this season.
There are seven games of the season remaining and The Bees sit seventh in the table, just one point outside the Play-Off places and six off the automatic promotion slots.
The emergency loan window closed today, Thursday March 26, and clubs in the Football League have no more opportunities to add to their resources.
Mark said there were potential opportunities to bring in players, including some that have gone to other teams near the top of the Championship, but he did not believe they would necessarily make a positive difference to the team and the dressing room.
“This squad of players has got us in to this position,” said Mark.
“They have proved they are good enough to get to the top of the division, produce consistent performances and beat other teams challenging for promotion.
“We have complete faith in them to continue what they have done so far.
"Without their outstanding efforts we would not be here talking about Play-Off places and possible promotion.
"They need and deserve our absolute trust and belief!
“As well as the current group we have Lewis Macleod now returning to fitness and players on the bench like Alan McCormack who are fully fit and ready to step in.
“We have Jack O’Connell, Sam Saunders and Nico Yennaris out on loan getting valuable game time who we can recall if we need them.
“We are in good shape.”
Mark explained that every player movement carries and risk and while many teams near the top of the Championship have added to their squads he did not feel it was right for Brentford.
“If there was an opportunity to bring a player in to the squad that will add value on and off the pitch we would have done it,” Mark explained.
“No manager would turn down a player that can improve their chances of winning matches.
"All this talk of our turning down numerous options in January is absolute nonsense.
“If you get a player in on loan they are either from a club that expects them to play, are playing First Team football and are therefore very expensive or have not played recently and are not ready to come in and make an impact.
“We do not guarantee anyone a First Team spot here and I will not drop a player that has proved their quality over 39 games for someone who will have to get used to our style of football, patterns of play and work ethic.
"Very often, the supporters can not be given the full story for confidentiality reasons and are left to guess and second guess as to why a certain player has or has not been secured.
"The simple fact is that no player will ever be guaranteed a starting place and to give such an assurance would undermine the philosophy that we have worked so hard to instill over the last 18 months.
"It is of course understandable that other clubs may well be happy to make such a commitment and in turn secure the respective player.
"However, have no doubts that very often such a situation can have far more negative than positive consequences.
“We have seven games to go and the players will come back to training rested and ready for the run-in.
“We have achieved what we have by creating a very real harmony and work ethic and with the chance now to achieve something very special this season, it is vital that players, staff and of course our supporters are all pulling in the same direction as we strive to finish as strongly as possible.”
