Brentford Manager Mark Warburton said three games in seven days against Leeds United, Watford and Reading was an exciting week.
The Bees face Leeds at Griffin Park in the Sky Bet Championship tomorrow, Saturday September 27, and then Reading at home again a week later.
In between they travel to Watford on Tuesday night.
Mark, speaking to Bees Player, said his side had nothing to fear.
He said they had shown they could win games and make an impact but had to show consistency.
“The boys worked so hard for things like this,” he said.
“We play Leeds, Watford and Reading.
“They are big clubs with recent Premier League pedigree.
“It is exciting for the players but not a daunting challenge.
“It is exciting.
“We have shown we can impact the division, the players need to show consistency.
“We can’t drop our standards or we will get punished.”
Brentford will be looking to bounce back after successive defeats.
After an unfortunate loss to Norwich City, when The Bees dominated only to lose, they were beaten 4-0 at Middlesbrough last week.
Mark said his players had recognised what went wrong on Teesside and would learn from it.
“We always debrief every game – win, lose or draw,” he said.
“It was a bad day at the office for us and we have to recognise why.
“We have done that.
“The stats are interesting; we got the ball in to the final third the highest number of times this season but failed to get shots on target.
“We have to learn from it and now we focus on Leeds United.
“They have had two good results and we will have to be at our best to get something from the game.
“Middlesbrough sat back and countered us and other teams will see that.
“We have to be prepared for that, we need to deal with the counter and we have worked on that.
“When we do what we do well we are very good.
“We have to take care of the football and maximise possession in key areas.
“The players have been outstanding this season.
“Saturday was not a good day for us.”
Mark said he had seen a reaction in training this week after the Middlesbrough loss.
“The players appreciate we have a good squad, lots of high quality players and they are fighting for their place, not just in the starting XI but the 18,” he said.
“We have some very good players that won’t make the bench on certain days.
“There has been a great reaction in training this week.
“Having a week between games allows a more balanced week.”
Leeds come to Griffin Park after three wins in four Championship games.
Dave Hockaday left as boss in August and under the caretaker charge of Neil Redfearn they took ten points from 12.
Darko Milanič took over as Head Coach this week.
“There has been a managerial change,” said Mark.
“We think their new boss likes to play a settled 4-4-2 but they have had success in recent weeks with a diamond, or a flexible 4-3-3.
“They are fluid, they have looked to counter.
“We have studied them as best we can but a managerial change opens up new options and we will have to deal with whatever they throw at us.”
Mark stressed his side needed to focus on the current Leeds side not the history of the Yorkshire outfit, which included title wins and European Cup Final appearances with great players such as Billy Bremner, Jack Charlton, Johnny Giles and Norman Hunter.
“I grew up with a Leeds United team of Bremner and Giles and can still reel them off,” said Mark.
“It is a huge club with huge history but we are not playing the history, we are playing the 11 players now.
“If we do what we are capable of on Saturday we will be fine.”
Tony Craig, Jon Toral and Betinho were among those to play for Brentford’s Development Squad in an Under-21 Professional Development League game against Sheffield Wednesday on Monday.
Betinho scored in a 1-1 draw.
“Tony and Jon got a good hour,” said Mark.
“Betinho was going to play 75 but we had an injury to Charlie Adams so he stayed on longer.
“Betinho got a goal, hit the post and created chances.
“Tony was solid and dependable and needed an hour to get his sharpness back.
“Jon Toral was the same.”
Mark also updated on injuries to Nico Yennaris, Sam Saunders, Scott Hogan and Richard Lee.
None will be available for the Leeds match.
“Nico is working well, he is a good healer and is out there earlier than expected,” said Mark.
“Sam is running, he will be introduced to ball work slowly.
“It is great for Sam to see light at the end of the tunnel.
“Scott Hogan is around, it is great to see him back.
“Richard Lee is improving and hopefully he will be back in training next week.”
