As we near the end of another year, thankfully it didn’t end on December 21; it allows us a little time to reflect on the year gone and look forward to the year ahead.
I believe the Club has made, and continues to make, giant strides forward, and there is now a real opportunity to build on its fanbase and rich history and become a sustainable Football Club within the Football League Championship.
With the enthusiasm, passion and considerable investment of Club Owner Matthew Benham, the Club is now able to realistically plan for a future in a new stadium – we hope from July 2016.
In addition Matthew’s investment has enabled the Club to develop a Category Two Academy, utilising a brand new indoor facility and partnership at Uxbridge High School.
This will help the Club to achieve its stated aims of having a First Team squad which regularly features home grown players, within the next three to five years.
The quality and style of football on show from Uwe and the players is, I’m reliably told by a good number of fans, the best that Brentford has produced for a very, very long time.
The quality of staff and the infrastructure now in place behind the scenes means that we are also well placed and positioned to capitalise on promotion as and when we achieve it.
The recent ‘Pay What You Can’ initiative has proved that the Club is more than capable of attracting new and lapsed fans and building the numbers of loyal supporters at Griffin Park.
As I’ve stressed on a number of occasions, it will be crucial that we build our supporter and corporate numbers in readiness to maximise the effect of moving to a new stadium.
These are very exciting times indeed to be a Bees fan and a brave new world beckons.
We are, however, nothing without our fans – supporters who follow the club home and away, through thick and thin, and everyone at the Club is very appreciative of your fantastic support.
