Brentford Manager Mark Warburton said he was delighted with a Sky Bet Championship win over Brighton and Hove Albion that saw his players deliver outstanding performances and produce some great football.
The Bees made it three wins in their last four Championship games with the 3-2 win.
After a slow start, when Brighton hit the post and had other chances, Moses Odubajo put Brentford in front.
Andre Gray doubled the lead during a spell of Brentford domination and Jonathan Douglas headed what proved to be the winner in the second half.
Brighton came back in to the game at 2-1 and 3-2 but Mark said Brentford deserved the points.
Speaking after the match he said he wanted his team to entertain but also to win.
“We knew they would have a go at us,” said Mark.
“They move the ball very well and they keep the ball very well, so do we.
“We knew it would be an open game.
“We didn’t want to be too open and for us to be vulnerable to the counter attack.
“Brighton could have been a couple up in the first 15 minutes but we learned from our mistakes and pressed higher and harder.
“There were some outstanding performances and some great football.
“A neutral must have thoroughly enjoyed that game.
“It was a bit nail biting for our fans but there was some good football.
“Supporters pay their money and come to be entertained, I hope we did that.
“I do not mind conceding two if we score three or more.
“That is not naïve, we want to dominate the football and if we get the goals we will be OK.
“I am delighted with the win.
“To entertain is good but you want the points as well, I thought we deserved them.”
Mark said Brighton started the game well and Brentford had to find a response.
Odubajo’s goal came against the run of play but Brentford were well on top when Gray made it two.
Brighton scored just before the break from a corner but Douglas got the winner ten minutes in to the second period.
“We talk about starting fast but Brighton started well,” said Mark. “It happens.
“We didn’t get hold of the football and could have been one or two down.
“There are some trigger moments and we built on Jonathan Douglas leading a press.
“We were under the cosh but got our goal.
“We then got a second.
“The players were disappointed to concede just before half time and we have to learn from that.
“But we got a good third goal.
“If we can learn to keep the ball at key times we will be alright.
“Brighton are a good team, we have to respect that.
“We pressed well and tried to snuff out the threat.”
Mark said he was trying to get his players to believe in their ability.
“We always talk to the players about self-belief,” he explained.
“They need to believe as an individual, as a unit and as a team.
“If we do that we can shock a few people.
“The players will also shock themselves.
“We do not play the badge or the history, we play the current squad.
“We have good players; they have a work ethic that can’t be faulted.
“They also have a unity and a harmony that is a strength.
“If we can take that on to the pitch every week we will be OK.”
Mark said Stuart Dallas was named as a substitute as he picked up an injury while with Northern Ireland.
The Brentford boss said he was planning for upcoming games against Norwich City and Middlesbrough in the next week and the season ahead.
“We have some very good players that do not make our 18,” said Mark.
“Norwich are here on Tuesday, we have to use the squad and make sure they are as fit as they can be.
“You can’t play the same 11 players.
“We have a long season ahead.
“We have nursed Stuart Dallas through the week after he got an injury with Northern Ireland as we have Norwich and then a long journey to Middlesbrough.
“He got half hour and Jota got an hour, which we wanted.
“The players were outstanding today and played with a real energy.
“We have to prepare now for Tuesday.”
