Head Coach Marinus Dijkhuizen told Bees Player that a changed side would feature in tonight’s Capital One Cup Round one tie with Oxford United at Griffin Park. Monday evening’s Development Squad win at Birmingham City did not feature Courtney Senior, Josh Laurent, Josh Clarke, Jermaine Udumaga and Ryan Williams, with all five players expected to feature in the squad for this evening’s cup tie.
Dijkuhizen revealed that three players picked up slight injuries from Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Ipswich Town.
“We have some injuries,” said Marinus. “Jota, Harlee Dean and Alan Judge, so they won’t play. Some of the substitutes from Saturday need a game, like Andreas Bjelland and Lasse Vibe. We have a lot of quality in the team, but also some youngsters. It’s good experience for them to play at a good level.”
The busy August schedule in England, where league and cup combine for a hectic period before the first international break, is different to The Netherlands start of their domestic season.
“[There are] less games,” said Marinus. “Four games in August and hopefully we have seven if we win so it’s good for me to get used to this. It’s tough for the guys; they are in good shape but it’s difficult to play a lot of games in such a short space of time.”
