Brentford Head Coach Marinus Dijkhuizen spoke after the 2-1 defeat to Norwich City, giving his reaction to the game. He also confirmed the latest news on Moses Odubajo, who did not play at Carrow Road.
His side equalised shortly after Norwich took the lead in the first half but were undone but a 66th minute Cameron Jerome goal which settled the match.
“The first half organisation was not good,” said Marinus. “We scored a very good goal and some good chances were also created. The defence in the second half was a little better but we couldn’t create a lot on the ball.”
Norwich gave Marinus’ side the perfect test for the start of the new season, which the Head Coach pleased at the opportunity to play the side newly promoted to the Premier League.
“They are physically strong with a lot of pace on the ball,” said Marinus. “It was a good exercise for us. I think we have a lot of quality in this squad so we’ll be ready for next week and Ipswich.”
Moses Odubajo did not play in the match, with Marinus confirming the reason for his absence.
“He has a clause in his contract for a certain amount and Hull City want to pay that,” said Marinus. “He decided not to play today so that’s why he wasn’t in the squad.”
Confirming he was available for transfer, Marinus expected interest from Premier League clubs for his signature.
“We think Moses is quality, a very good player,” said Marinus. “It’s a difficult position [to play in], there are not a lot of good right backs so it’s possible that Premier League clubs come in for him.”
