Marinus Dijkhuizen gave his post match reaction to the pre-season friendly win over Stoke City. The hosts won 2-0 with a goal in each half from Andy Gogia and Stuart Dallas.
“It was good,” said Marinus. “It was an enjoyable game, good defending and organisation. We talked and trained a lot about these things. It’s good to see when you practice a few things and see them on the pitch, so I was happy with that.
“On the ball we created a lot of chances so it was a good performance from my team.”
Supporters attending the game would have noticed that the passing game of the previous incumbent had not been sacrificed.
“We want to play good football,” said Marinus. “They already played last season a good brand of football so from that perspective I like it.”
When asked if he was likely to dip into the transfer market again after signing Philipp Hofmann and Lasse Vibe, the Head Coach did not rule out further signings.
“You never know,” said Marinus. “Moving players to other clubs is easier than the Netherlands. We will keep an eye on the transfer market.
“It was the first time we played with that squad today. It surprised me in a positive way.”
Stoke arrived at Griffin Park with Premier League credentials, but it was Brentford that took the honours, dominating most of the match, and running out deserved winners.
“I was surprised also by that also,” said Marinus. “I think we were by far the better side. It was good for the confidence of the players.”
