Marcos Tébar said Brentford deserved to win their pre-season friendly against Crystal Palace.
The Bees beat the Premier League side 3-2 at Griffin Park on Saturday.
Moses Odubajo scored the winner against a strong Palace side after the Premier League side had struck two quick goals.
Jonathan Douglas and Andre Gray had given Brentford a two-goal lead early in the second half.
“I think it was a very good test for us against a very good team,” said Marcos, speaking to Bees Player: Match Day Live.
“Crystal Palace are a Premier League team and we deserved to win the match.
“We had lost of opportunities and it was a very good game.”
Marcos joined The Bees in the summer.
The Spanish midfield player signed a two-year deal after agreeing a termination of his contract with previous club UD Almería.
He said he was enjoying his time in West London so far.
“I wanted a change,” he said.
“I wanted to play in England to know another culture and another type of football.
“This league is very strong and the supporters are supporting their team and it is a really good experience.
“I am enjoying it.
“The manager wants me to play like I did in Spain.
“We pass the ball, create angles on the pitch.
“We move a lot and midfield players are trying to arrive in the box.
“It is good for me; my type of football is similar.
“I was in the Academy at Real Madrid, they taught me to play that way.
“I have to acclimatise to English football, it is more intense but I like it.”
Marcos said the level of training at Brentford was akin to what he was used to in Spain.
“The level is very high,” he said.
“It is similar but we do more gym work and it is more intense.
“I think in football physicality is important but if you play like us it is different.”
Marcos said he was getting used to life in England.
He said there was lots of demand for visits from Spain and he was looking forward to English football’s traditional Christmas schedule.
“Everybody wants to visit me,” said Marcos.
“My parents are here and they are enjoying the city.
“I want to speak better English.
“I like the idea of Boxing Day football.
“The supporters enjoy Christmas football.”
