Marco Djuricin said it was an amazing feeling to score the winner in front of the Ealing Road on his home debut.
The Austrian striker popped up with 25 minutes to play to complete The Bees turnaround after Lasse Vibe’s goal had cancelled out a first minute strike by Daniel Johnson for the Lilywhites.
Speaking to Bees Player after the match Marco said it was very important to pick up a first home win of the season and he was happy to be able to help with a goal.
“I am very happy to score my first goal at Griffin Park,” said Marco. “I remember picking up the ball from Jake Bidwell and I just ran and ran. I scored the goal which helped us to win and that is important for the team. I went to the fans and I don’t understand why I got a yellow card. It was an amazing feeling for me.
“The fans pushed us throughout the game and I am so happy. In the first five minutes we were asleep and then we played well. It was an important victory for us and now we can win our next two home games which will be good for the fans.”
Marco has netted twice in his first three Brentford games since joining on a season-long loan from Austrian side Red Bull Salzburg last month.
The 22-year-old said he has settled in well to life at Brentford and now wants to get going with his job of scoring goals.
“Scoring goals is my job,” said Marco. “I am a forward so I need to score goals. I am very happy and I am very happy for the win. It is a great day with the win. I have loved the feeling from the first three matches. The fans are really good and they have pushed us. We brought a good number of fans to Middlesbrough which is good because it is a long way. We need to win more games, starting with our next two at home.”
The forward played only five games for Salzburg this season before joining The Bees during the international break.
Brentford have played three matches in the last week with Marco featuring in all three, something he said has been difficult as he gets up to full fitness.
“The fans can see that I am not at full power yet,” said Marco. “I went four weeks without a game in Austria and now I have played three games in a week. I will train hard and hopefully score more goals. It has been hard mentally and physically but it is my job. I am happy to play for Brentford and I will give my all to score more goals.”
