Marcello Trotta said everyone in the Brentford dressing room was looking forward to the rest of the 2013/14 season.
The Bees are currently top of the Sky Bet League One table.
They are unbeaten in 18 League One games and have won 15 of them.
The latest point came in a 1-1 draw away to Shrewsbury Town on Saturday, Marcello scored Brentford’s goal to take his personal tally to 11 for the season and seven in his last nine games.
Saturday saw the return from injury of Harlee Dean and Adam Forshaw, who had been ever-present before picking up injuries a month ago.
Marcello said that would lead to more competition for places, which would drive everyone on.
“It is good in the dressing room,” said the striker, speaking to Bees Player: match Day Live after the Shrewsbury draw.
“We know we have to stay focussed and everyone in the squad will be needed.
“We are looking forward to what is to come.
“It is great for the team that Harlee Dean and Adam Forshaw are back.
“There is competition for places all over the team and that is good.
“It gets the best out of everyone.”
Saturday’s match was played in horrible conditions.
The pitch was wet due to heavy recent rain and cut up as the afternoon wore on as more fell.
A strong wind blew in to the faces of Brentford’s defenders in the first half and at their backs in the second.
Marcello said Brentford dominated after the break and should have scored more than one goal.
He said Brentford kept trying to play their football and did it well.
“The conditions were not the best but we tried to play throughout the game,” said Marcello.
“In the second half we dominated a bit more.
“We should have scored more goals.
“We had to come short to get the ball in the first half.
“We had to do that as the wind was against us.
“We kept trying to play, we did that well and had good chances which we should have scored.
“We have to deal with the conditions and play our game.”
Brentford’s goal came when they were awarded a penalty after Alan Judge was brought down.
Marcello took it but his powerful low shot was tipped on to the post by Shrewsbury goalkeeper Chris Weale.
The ball rolled across the line and Marcello reacted quickest to tap in.
That looked set to be the winner before Tom Eaves smashed in an equaliser, capitalising when a Tony Craig clearance hit him and fell kindly.
Marcello said The Bees would take the positives from the day.
“There was pressure on the penalty,” he said.
“It was a tense game and it was 0-0.
“Luckily the ball went in from the rebound.
“It put us 1-0 up so it was looking good until they scored late on.
“We were really disappointed to concede.
“They only had one or two shots all game.
“We have to take the positives.
“We for another point, we are top of the league and we have to keep going.
“We could have taken more chances but we are still two points clear at the top.
“We played really well in the conditions.”
