Marcello Trotta said he felt great after scoring the first goal of his second Brentford loan spell.
The striker hit nine goals in 29 games in his first spell at Griffin Park, during the 2012/13 season.
He joined The Bees again in September and scored the first goal of his second Brentford stay in the 3-1 win over Colchester United.
Brentford were 1-0 down to the Essex side when he turned home a Clayton Donaldson cross with 15 minutes to go.
George Saville curled in a second for The Bees and Kadeem Harris headed a third to give the hosts a 3-1 win.
Marcello spoke to Bees Player: Match Day Live after the final whistle and said the win was the most important thing.
“I feel great,” said the striker.
“I am happy with the goal but more for the win, that is what we need.
“Hopefully we can go on from there.
“It was a great ball in.
“I just got a touch and it went in.
“I think it took a deflection but it was a goal and I’m happy with that.”
Marcello admitted he should have scored in the first half when Colchester goalkeeper Sam Walker saved a George Saville shot.
The striker got to the ball first but put it wide from six yards.
“I thought I would score, it was an easy chance,” said Marcello.
“I tried to stay positive, focus on the game and help my team mates.
“I thought we played really well.
“There was a goal from a corner but I don’t think they had anything else.
“We stuck together and came back really well.”
Alan McCormack also spoke to Bees Player: Match Day Live after the Colchester clash.
He said the game would have been different if that early chance had gone in but praised the way Brentford’s players kept going after falling behind.
Alan said the introduction of substitutes Sam Saunders and Kadeem Harris, joined by Farid El Alagui late on, gave The Bees impetus and once they levelled they kicked on.
“We kept going,” he said.
“Trotta missed a sitter in the first half, if that had gone in the game would have been completely different, they were hanging on at times.
“They had one corner and went 1-0 up.
“We knew we had to keep going.
“The subs were brilliant and fresh legs gave us a driving force.
“Clayton put a ball in to the box; we cracked them open and kicked on from there.”
Alan said Brentford’s players were very positive throughout the match.
He added the tempo of Brentford’s play was important.
“The positivity of the lads was superb,” he said.
“We encouraged everyone when things went wrong.
“Everyone was helping each other all game.
“We all worked hard.
“We knew we had to be patient.
“The tempo of our play helped us get the equaliser and we kicked on from there.”
After Brentford’s defeat against Stevenage last week there was a lengthy discussion in the dressing room.
Alan said that helped everyone in the camp and training before the Colchester match was good.
“It made the week a bit better,” he said.
“We said what we had to say on Saturday, spent time with our families and friends on Sunday and came back fresh.
“Monday’s training session was sharp, it set the tempo.
“It was great to see.
“We kicked on from Monday morning.
“There was no hangover from last week, there was a desire to win the game and it was a great win.”
Brentford’s next match is against Bristol City tomorrow.
Alan said it was good that it was coming so soon.
“It is great that Tuesday is coming so quick,” he said.
“We can kick on and go to Bristol to look to take three points.
“When you come off a performance like that you could play the same day.
“We want to keep playing, that will be the same on Tuesday.
“One win doesn’t make a season.
“We want to win every game, we have set high standards and today will be a turning point.
“Last week was as low as we could go; the lads have turned a corner this week.”
Marcello said he hoped The Bees could go on a run.
“We need to keep going and keep the run going,” he said.
“When I came here I was not 100 per cent fit.
“It took some time
“We have had a tough time but hopefully it is over, we can start to win and hopefully we’ll get a good result on Tuesday.”
