Luke Stopforth has been appointed as the new Head of Performance Analysis at Brentford Football Club. He replaces Neil McIlhargey, who has left the position after more than five years at Griffin Park. Neil, pictured right, has moved to Scotland to become Head of Analysis at Rangers FC, and Luke – who has worked with Neil in the Club’s performance analysis department for four years and been one of the main First Team analysts since 2012 – will take over.
Neil arrived at Griffin Park in 2010 to work in the Academy and introduced analysis for younger players at the Club as part of the investment in youth development. He started working with the First Team in 2011 and took over as Head of Performance Analysis that summer. He has overseen the growth of the department that now analyses players at all levels in training and matches.

Luke, pictured left, first came to Brentford at the start of the 2011/12 season. He worked primarily with the Youth Team and the newly-formed Development Squad as an intern while he was working on his Master’s Degree in Sports Performance Analysis. He began working with the First Team when taking on a full-time role at the Club in the summer of 2012.
Luke will now take on the role as Head of Performance Analysis. He will manage a team of skilled analysts working with the Club’s players at all levels.
