Brentford's Development Squad went down 3-1 at the Cardiff City Stadium against a strong City side.
The hosts took the lead just before half-time through Rudy Gestede's calm finish.
Luke Norris levelled things up from the spot but Rhys Healey and then Gestede scored late on to secure the three points.
